<p>The capacitor consists of two overlapping plates, one on each side of a dielectric. Both plates (2, 3) have a comblike structure (4, 5) arranged such that the teeth of one comb overlap the teeth of the other at right angles. The capacitor's value is adjusted by separating one or more teeth belonging to one or both plates from the spine of the plate concerned. To this end the spaces between the teeth of one plate have no dielectric, leaving the orthogonal teeth of the plate below exposed and accessible for adjustment.</p> |
