<p>The system assembles an insulating glass structure, a set of panes being stacked flat with intervening distance pieces all the way round their edges, so as to form air spaces between adjacent panes. The set is then fitted to a prefabricated and torsionally rigid metal window frame which has an L-shaped surface to retain it. A sealing distance piece is then fitted all round the free edge of the surface, between it and the pane edges. The slot formed is filled with insulating elastic glue to give a hermetic seal for the air spaces and secure the panes in place, and which is allowed to harden. The glue is delivered into the slot from a narrow nozzle inserted right to the bottom of the slot, filling the latter completely with glue right to the top. At the same time the injector is slid along the slot, so as to form a monolithic mass of glue.</p> |
