The i.c. engine has separate dosing of the air and/or the fuel mixture for the lower load region on the one hand and the upper load region on the other hand. The supply is via separate channels. The separating wall of the supply channel (3) runs right up to the inlet opening in the combustion chamber (8). The separating wall (9) is also maintained in branch lines of multi-cylinder engines. The smaller channel for the low load supply has a wall in common with the exhaust gas channel.
