PURPOSE:To butt optical fibers by using a holder provided with fiber insertion guide holes and a covering part retaining cover thereby facilitating fiber insertion to V-type grooves and obviating floating of the fibers from the grooves. CONSTITUTION:To butt optical fibers, the protruding parts 13 of a holder 5 are fitted into the holder fixing grooves 16 of a body 1, then fiber cores are inserted into both fiber guide holes 6 of the holder 5. Further, fiber coverings 11 are contained in the U-grooves 3 of the body 3, on which a cover 7 is put and the protruding parts 15 of the cover 7 are inserted into the cover fixing parts 4 of the body 1 to fix both. If material having elesticity is used for the holder 5 and cover 7, their mating with the body 1 is easy and since the fibers are retained by the holder 5, floating of the fibers from the grooves after the fibers are inserted into the V-type grooves does not occur. |
