Cyclopropane compounds of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R represents an acetyl or acetoxy group; a C2-10 alkoxy group optionally-substituted by one or more halogen atoms; a (cycloalkyl)alkoxy group containing 3 to 7 ring carbon atoms, a total of 4 to 9 carbon atoms and optionally ring-substituted by one or more halogen atoms; a cycloalkoxy group containing 3 to 7 ring carbon atoms; a C2-4 alkenyloxy group optionally-substituted by one or more halogen atoms; a C2???4 alkynyloxy group; a C6-12 aryloxy group; a C7-10 aralkyloxy group; and wherein X is -CH2CH(OCH3)2; -CH2CHO; -CH=CHOR2 in which R<2> is a C2???5 acyl group; -CHO; -COCl; -COBr; -COOR in which R represents a hydrogen atom, a salt-forming cation, a C1-20 alkyl group or a phenoxybenzyl or alpha-cyanophenoxybenzyl group; with the proviso that when R<1> is an acetoxy group, X is not a -CH2CH(OCH3)2 group. Some of the compounds have pesticidal activity and others are useful as intermediates in the manufacture of these and other pesticides. |
