Curing system for adhesives based on aminoplast resins e.g. for laminates, consists of an aq. soln. contg. (I) a water soluble ammonium salt, or sulphate or phosphate of a group I or II metal, and (II) a hydrolysable, water soluble salt of a metal that is different from the metal in (I), the wt. ratio of (I)/(II) being 5/95-97.5/2.5, esp. 20/80-90/10. By correct choice of the proportions of (I) and (II) the pot life of the adhesive can be controlled over a wide temp. range. (I) and (II) have a synergistic curing action, and can be added to the resin immediately before use, i.e. to provide a very short pot life. |
