<p>An automatic testing appts. for the steel cord of pneumatic tyres comprises a feed unit for introducing tyres individually into the test unit in a predetermined position, a tyre holding mechanism comprising a split rim device, constituted of an upper half-rim and lower half-rim, and derive mechanism for the rim, which rotates the tyre opposite to electrical detectors mounted on a trolley, to run on rails and a guide bar to bring the detectors to opposite side walls of the tyre; an electrical evaluation circuit supplied from the detectors records irregularities in the steel cord arrangement and causes an output signal to be produced, which sorts defective from satisfactory tyres. The lower half-rim is pref. mounted at the top end of a raising and lowering vertical shaft, the upper half-rim being mounted on a shaft stationary in position.</p> |
