<p>Polymeric quat. ammonium salt (I) is a novel cpd. with recurring units of the formula (I): (where Q has the formula: R1-2 are each alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl or together form a non-aromatic heterocycle; R3-8 independently are H, alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl or R3/R5 and R7/R8 can form an alkylene gp. Y is alkylene, arylene, alkenylene, aralkylene, arylene-dialkylene or Q; more than one Y gp. can be present in the same mol.; X is Cl, Br, I or MeSO4; x = 2-1000). (I) are used for the coagulation of a colloidal aq. dispersion e.g. sewage, waste liquor from paper mills, metal plating processes and other industrial sources.</p> |
