Multispindle dividing head for machine tool - has meshing head gears rotated in unison by rack and locked by fine adjustment taper pins

The dividing head has a number of identical spindles, these being automatically rotated in unison. At the end of the machine cycle, the number of completed parts equals the number of spindles. Each head has a gear (15, 16 17, 18) meshing with its neighbour, the train being driven by a master gear (14). This latter is itself rotated by a precision rack (13), driven by an integral power cylinder. After indexing, each head is locked by engagement (53) of a tapper pin, this providing the final fine adjustment.
