High mol. wt. polyethylene tops for timber planing machines - for smooth sliding of damp timber across the work top

The worktop of a timber planing machine is covered with a layer of low friction material, pref. pressed sheet of very high mo. wt. polyethylene, specifically "CESTIDUR" (RTM). The workpiece slides on the pressed sheet more readily than on a steel worktop, may be cut to closer thickness tolerances than pieces sliding over a series of rollers, esp. if the wood is damp.
