The reflex type telescopic lens has prisms or mirrors (5) to deflect the light beam produced by the taking lens (9). It is carried by being hung around the user's neck and resting on his chest, i.e. the photographer serves as his own tripod. It may also be used as a telescope; in which case a deflecting system (19) with an ocular (2) is built in or subsequently attached. The ocular (2) is extensible so that a swing-up mirror (3) can be pivoted into the beam path by use of a mechanical connection and a pin running in a slot. The focal length is in the range of 300 mm.
