The pushchair (1) for car travel has a rigid shell forming the seat and back, and retractable wheels (14) which are pulled into a raised position to enable the whole chair to sit on the rear seat. The chair is then secured by safety straps with rapid fasteners. The chair can be lifted in and out of the vehicle without removing the child. The wheels are retracted into moulded recesses in the sides of the seat shell and forms a simple to operate support for the child.
