Dental porcelain contains, as fluorescing agents, 0.05-2.0 wt % CeO2 and 0.1-0.5 wt % Tb2O3, It may also contain 0.2 wt % Dy2O3 =0.1 wt % V2O5, =0.2 wt % Sm2O3 and 0.2 wt % Eu2O3. By adjusting the compsn. the colour of fluorescene can be varied to match that of natural teeth. E.g. a porcelain of neutral-coloured fluorescence contained 0.1 wt % CeO2 and 0.25 wt % Tb2O3.
