Bend-free, elastic, puncture-tight vascular prostheses having a variable internal diameter of 2 to 30 mm, a variable wall thickness of 2 to 4 hundredths of a mm in the incision depth of the thread shape and a thread-like shape on the outside, are made of physiologically acceptable plastics in that a protective or separating layer (2) is pulled over a pre-prepared threaded pipe (1), and in that the layer is then constricted in a manner following the turns of the thread with a smooth plastic filament or a wire, so that the separating layer assumes the shape of the thread after drying and removal of the filament. A dissolved silicone rubber (3) is applied several times to said separating layer (2) until a wall thickness of about 0.5 mm has been reached, whereupon the tube is coated with an open-meshed hose fabric (4) of polyester yarn which is then in turn fixed in the turn of the thread using a constriction filament (5) or a wire. The threaded pipe (1) coated with the open-meshed polyester hose fabric (4) is then immersed first in a silicone-swelling, organic solvent and thereafter in dissolved silicone rubber until a second silicone layer (6) over the polyester hose has also reached a thickness of 0.5 mm, so that the final wall thickness of the prosthesis is about 1 mm. <IMAGE> |
