Drive for auxiliary engine driven air compressor - has belt tensioning pulley on bracket pivoted on compressor casing

The air compressor(4) for brakes or other purposes is mounted alongside an i.c. engine and is driven by a belt. A pulley(1) on the engine crank-shaft has grooves for the compressor belt as well as for belts for other auxiliary equipment. The compressor belt runs over a pulley(3) on the compressor shaft and is tensioned by an adjustable idler pulley(9). This idler is carried on a bracket(6) which pivots on a hub(5). The hub is supported on bearings in the compressor housing and is concentric with the compressor pulley(3). This reduces the space requirement of the assembly.
