Dyeing and printing of cellulose-polyester blends - using mixts. of reactive and dispersion dyes, with fixing at reduced temp.

Textiles from blends of cellulose or viscose with polyglycol-modified polyester fibres, are dyed or printed with mixts. of (A) a reactive dye, or combination of an opt. stabilised diazo cpd. with a 'Naphtol AS' (RTM) component, (e.g. CI Azoic Coupling component 2,5,11, 18,20 and 24) and an acid-forming cpd., and (B) a dispersion dye with dry heat fixing fastness at 180 degrees C of below 4. Fixing is in dry heat for 3-1 mins. at 140-160 degrees C. Fixing temps. are well below the 185-230 degrees C used in thermosol processes, giving energy savings and preventing decompsn. of urea added to increase the yield of (B). Very high dye yields are obtained in a single-stage process.
