Pharmaceutical compositions for oral or parenteral administration comprises o-aminobenzoic acid derivatives of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein <1>R denotes the group formed by removing OH from the 1 (alpha) or 1 (beta) position of arabinose, xylose, glucose, galactose, rhamnose or mannose, and <2>R denotes H, Na, K, 1/2 mol. Mg, 1/2 mol. Ca, 1/3 mol. Al or methyl, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier. The compositions have activity against hyperglycemia, hypertension, hyperlipemia, inflammatory diseases, pain, pyrexia and tumours. The compounds (1) may be prepared by reacting o- aminobenzoic acid with the appropriate saccharide in methanolic ammonium chloride. |
