PROGRAMMED CALCULATOR HAVING OPERATOR PROMPTING MEANS

A calculator or the type having stored program control for performing a limited number of calculations, and including an operator prompting system adapted to guide an operator through the various programs by directly indicating the need for a data entry and the nature of such entry. In a preferred embodiment the program module within the calculator contains a set of programs for performing navigational computations particularly useful to aircraft pilots. However, the calculator may be configured to carry out complex calculations in other fields, such as financial, scientific or engineering applications. The operator prompting means is preferably implemented by a series of indicator lights associated with respective titles, such lights being selectively illuminated to indicate to the operator the fact that a data entry is required, and the nature of the required entry.
