The rail vehicle bogie braking system has the shoe brackets suspended from supports (18-21) overhung from the bogie frame (1) in a manner such as not to impart any additional stiffness to it. They are actuated in a balanced manner via vertical rocker levers forming part of a linkage with horizontal rods hinging on the ends of a compensator bar. The latter is controlled hydraulically or pneumatically from the driver's cab. The rods can be arranged to hold the bar clear of the frame in conjunction with the rocker levers, and to distribute the braking effort equally between front and rear axles. The levers are connected to the supports by suspension rods.
|
