The carpet cleaner nozzle has a withdrawable brush under spring tension and is height adjustable through an excenter. The excenter is movable to both end positions through two foot operated levers working together with both excenter and foot lever seated on a common axis. Both levers (7,8) are made as levers with a neutral stroke which influence each other. A part of the necessary angle of tilt of the actuating lever (7) to lower the brush plate (4) with the brush (5) out of the housing is pre-set by lowering the formed on excenter on the actuating tread lever into a recess which acts like an inclined surface.
