<p>The motor has an output shaft (15) which carries an inclined swashplate (11) midway along its length. It has a valve plate (17) at its far end. The shaft with the swashplate and valve plate revolves within a stationary drum (2) which is assembled from two axial sections (6, 7). The drum contains opposed axial cylinders (8) on either side of the swashplate. A piston (9) reciprocates in each cylinder and is given its motion by the rotation of the swashplate. The valve plate admits and releases hydraulic liquid to and from the cylinders through passages within the shaft. The construction reduces the rotating masses and thus enables quicker acceleration and deceleration.</p> |
