The system increases the accuracy of measurement of the duration and temporary occurrence of the QRS complex in electrocardiograms or other signal complexes occurring quasi-periodically. The signal is so processed (A) that a further signal A+ is produced. The maximum amplitude of each complex of signal A+ assumes, after passing through a control unit, a standard value i.e. so that the maximum amplitudes of all complexes are equal. In addition or alternatively to this the complexes are so processed that their initial and final flanks are steeper. The processed complexes have for their duration fewer and shorter surges than the unprocessed ones.
