The vacuum cleaner uses a system of adjusting the speed of the fan motor. Different suction nozzles may be attached to a suction pipe corresponding to the object to be cleaned. In each nozzle (1) there is a control element (4) specific to that particular nozzle to control the motor speed. The control element (4) is switched into the control circuit leading to the blower aunit whenever that particular nozzle or any other nozzle is attached to the suction cleaner. It operates through a resistance selected to produce the speed required to produce the optimum result from the particular nozzle used.
