The disposable product has an absorbent core (12) comprising a corrugated tissue (20) sandwiched between two separate layers of fluffed pulp (14, 16), upper and lower wadding layers (24, 22), a water impervious sheet (26) provided with a glue line 28 on its edges (30, 32) wrapped about the top wadding layer (24) and the core (12) so as to only partially overlie the lower wadding layer (22), and a sheet of non-woven material (34) wrapped about the assembly and provided with a longitudinal strip or strips of pressure sensitive adhesive (36, 40) covered by a release paper (38). The lower layer (16) of fluffed pulp is embossed and printed to form coated recesses (18) partially therethrough for accommodating and absorbing substantial discharges of material at a rate faster than otherwise possible so as to prevent leakage.
