Sulphur-vulcanisable elastomer compsns. comprise 100 pts. ethylene-propylene-non conjugated diene rubber (EPDM) and 0.1-4 pts. FeCl3, CuCl2, CuCl, ZnCl2, CaCl2, SnCl2, HgCl2, AlCl3, CuSO4, CuCO3 or ZnCO3 or hydrates or complexes of these. The rubber compsns. cna be cured at >=190 degrees C without deterioration of physical props. of the vulcanisate, allowing fast curing times. The compsn. also contain the usual additives such as 0.3-3 pts. (as S) of known sulphur-contg. vulcanising agents, 3-10 pts. ZnO and 50-350 pts. carbon black. |
