<p>The packages are produced in the flat condition from sheets of cardboard. The sheets are delivered end on and in succession tangentially to a rotary feed cylinder. The sealing sack material is appled, in the form of a flattened tube less than half as wide as the sheet, in the lengthwise direction round the cylinder, and there shaped into successive tubular sacks with one end open. As they come off the cylinder they are flattened against the adhesive on panels and flaps of the successive sheets to secure them in position as the latter pass through. Glue is applied to the remaining panels and they are folded so as to glue them together and to the sacks, as required.</p> |
