PURPOSE:To provide Al-Fe alloy material with plasticity due to fine grain superplastic deformation, by solidifying through rapid cooling of molten Al-Fe alloy contg. specific amount of Fe. CONSTITUTION:Waste of Al-cans, which were used for various drink-cans, has been increased in Fe content. Hence, Fe is added to the waste in order to produce Al-Fe alloy contg. 17-21% Fe, which is melted. The molten alloy is brought into a vessel 4, it is then maintained at a molten state by heating with a high frequency induction coil 5. Under the coil 5, a rotatable base board 1 made of copper etc. excellent in heat conductivity is rotated at 2,000-2,500 r.p.m. The molten Al-Fe alloy is dropped onto the base board 1 and is cooled rapidly at a rate 10<5>-5 x 10<6> deg.K/sec. to produce thin material. The thin material is compression molded by a high-press. press to form lumps, which are sintered at 600-700 deg.C in a inert gas atmosphere. The sintered material is plastic worked, e.g., rolled, extruded, into a desired shape. |
