Prodn. of aromatic gasoline from natural gas is carried out by (a) converting the natural gas to synthesis gas, (b) converting the synthesis gas to a hydrocarbon mixt. using a catalyst contg. a crystalline silicate (I), (c) sepg. the hydrocarbon mixt. into a C2-fraction, an isobutane-contg. gaseous fraction and a gasoline-range aromatic fraction, (d) recycling the C2-fraction to step (a), (e) alkylating the isobutane-contg. fraction and sepg. a gasoline-range fraction from the prod. and (f) combining the gasoline-range fractions from steps (c) and (e). (I) is thermally stable at >600 degrees C, is capable of adsorbing 3 wt % H2O at 25 degrees C and 100% RH after dehydration at 400 degrees C in vacuo, and has the following molar compsn. in dehydrated form: (1.0 plus-or-minus 0.3)Rn/2O: aFe2O3.bAl2O3.-cGa2O3 :y (dSiO2.eGeO2) (where R is one or more mono-or divalent cations, a >=0.1, b >=0, c >=0, a+b+c = 1,y = 10, 10, d >=0.1, e >=0, d+e = 1, n is the valence of R). High synthesis gas conversions (e.g. 95-100%) can be obtd. with high (e.g. 60-80%) selectivity for C5+ gasoline. The blended gasoline produced in step (f) has a high octane no. (e.g. RON clear = 90-92). |
