Sealed couplings for electrical switchgear levers - involving a ductile coupling crimped onto a rubber sheath

The parent patent described insulated levers for electrical switchgear. This addn describes a modified seal between a rod made of resin impregnated glass fibres and a hollow metal coupling. The coupling is provided with a ductile skirt which can be crimped tightly on to the end of a rubber sheath mounted on the rod. The cavity within the coupling is filled with a cast resin which provides a mechanical key between the grooved rod and the conic coupling. Opt. the sheath is mounted over a rubber sleeve bonded to the rod surface and also supporting a rubber skirt. The rubber components are pref. of ethylene propylene rubber.
