The pneumatic brake cylinder has a connecting cap (47) acting as a locking element by attachment to the adjusting nut (11) which screws onto the outside of the spindle (7) which forms the central part of the piston (7). This part is hollow and encloses a control piston (21) which is held in a non rotating position inside. Inside the end of the operating chamber (55) is a disc (37) with a square rod (35) attached which passes through the cap (47). This is connected with the nut (11) so that the cap is locked against the end of the spindle (7). The cap has projections (51) forming a connecting device with the head (43) of the control piston (21).
