The motor vehicle safety belt has an anchorage on a side column engaged by an oblong holder, and a retraction mechanism on the side away from the column. It comprises a breast and a hip portion, secured at one end to a roller (5a) in the retraction mechanism (5) while their other ends are attached to the opposite ends of the holder (3). The latter has a locking device (2) by which it is detachably secured to the anchorage (4). The device can comprise a central actuator (6) on the holder and bolts at each end.
