PURPOSE:In a blast furnace, wall pressures are measured at soft-melt position and its upper and lower positions, and the measured pressure are compared to estimate the location of the soft-melt zone. Such location and a high temperature furnace model are used to estimate the distribution of the soft-melt zone and to determine the limit of blast quantity for stable furnace operation. CONSTITUTION:In a blast furnace, wall pressures are measured at soft-melt position which is poorly drafted, and at its upper and lower positions. The measured pressures are used to estimate the location of the soft-melt zone by using the pressure-loss formula. Such location is used with average cross sectional soft-melt zone obtained by blast furnace heat model, thereby to estimate the distribution of the soft-melt zone and to determine the locations where the blow-through and shelf- hang are likely to occure. Thus, the process provides an accurate instruction for limiting draft quantity, contributing to an increased output, reduced furnace troubles and stable operation. |
