<p>The lamp socket is mounted in a holder which is kept at the voltage required for resistance welding; and a self-centering welding head is used. Head is fitted with a slide on which a circular electrode disc can be rotated and fixed in a desired angular posn.; and a welding voltage (i.e. the other terminal) is also applied to electrode. Head is pref. mounted via. two leaf springs on a base, so the head can move both sideways and vertically; and an electromagnet is used to move the slide so electrode meets a contact wire on the lamp socket. Even when there are dimensional variations of up to 3 mm between the lamp bulb and the socket, a reliable weld can be obtd. between a connecting wire and the socket.</p> |
