PURPOSE:To provide the subject power converter wherein when an inertial body is driven by use of a cyclo-converter as a power converter, a synchronous motor is driven by a thyristor motor, and when energy of the inertial body is regenerated, the synchronous motor can be driven as a synchronous generator. CONSTITUTION:At the time of acceleration, change-over circuits 89 and 90 are selected as indicated in the drawing a synchronous motor 1 is driven as a thyristor motor by a speed reference circuit 81. On the other hand, at the time of regenerative driving, the change-over cifcuits 89 and 90 are selected in an inverse manner as that shown in the drawing, and the voltage and frequency at the regenerative side of the cyclo-converter 7 are controlled by a frequency reference oscillator 87, thereby to drive the synchronous motor as a synchronous generator. |
