Streptovaricin C derivatives having the formula
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="46" wi="85" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>wherein R represents an allyl, cycloalkyl or adamanthyl group or a C<Sub>1</Sub>-C<Sub>20</Sub> alkyl group which can be substituted with hydroxyl, cyano, acetyl, formyl, furoyl, thenoyl, alkoxy, carbamyl, phenyl or substituted phenyl group or a phenacyl group which can be substituted with a halogen, alkoxy or phenyl group. The alkoxy group may have 1 to 7, preferably 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The substituted phenyl group may have halogen, nitro, hydroxyl, cyano, acetyl, formyl, furoyl, thenoyl, alkoxy, carbamyl or phenyl as substituent.
