<p>It is known that centrifugal compressors may be driven at high shaft speeds through use of gear trains interposed between the compressor and the prime mover. In this invention a high speed centrifugal compressor is driven through direct close coupling of the centrifugal compressor's input shaft with the output shaft of a two shaft gas turbine engine. The discharge casing of the gas turbine engine is center line mounted to provide for free and uniform expansion of the casing under heat stresses.</p> |
