<p>New cephalosporin derivatives which are useful as antibiotics and as disinfectants are derivatives of the general formula: <IMAGE> (wherein: B represents a radical <IMAGE> in which X represents a sulphur or oxygen atom and R' represents an alkyl, alkoxy, or phenyl radical or a radical -(CH2)n-NR2R3 in which n represents 0 or an integer from 1 to 4 and R2 and R3 each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical or together with the adjacent N atom form a piperidino, morpholino or phthalimido group; or B represents a radical -CHR4CO2A', in which A' represents a hydrogen atom, a salt- forming group or an ester-forming group and R4 represents a phenyl, hydroxyethyl or nitrile radical; or B represents a gamma -lactone radical; or B represents a radical -(CH2)n'-R5c in which n' represents an integer of from 1 to 4 and R5c represents an alkoxy radical, an alkylthio radical, an alkylsulphinyl radical, an alkylsulphonyl radical, a radical NR6R7 [in which R6 and R7 each represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical or together with the adjacent N atom form a phthalimido or 1-pyridinio group], a cyano radical, a carbamoyl or thiocarbamoyl radical, a 4-methyl- or 4-amino-1,3-thiazol-2-yl radical, a 1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5-yl radical, an azido radical, an acyl radical having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms, a halogen atom, a phenylthio radical, an optionally- substituted heterocyclylthio radical, or an imidazolyl, morpholinyl or N-alkyl- piperazinyl radical; R1 represents a chloro or methoxy radical, an alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkylthio radical, a radical -CH2-S-R12 [in which R12 represents an optionally-substituted heterocyclic radical containing nitrogen, an acyl radical, the 2-oxo- [3H]-thiazolin-4-yl-carbonyl radical or the 3-methyl-1,2-oxazol-5-yl-carbonyl radical], an acetoxymethyl or carbamoyloxymethyl radical or an alkylcarbonylamino radical; and A represents a hydrogen atom, a salt- forming group or an easily-cleavable ester-forming group) and their acid addition salts.</p> |
