An apparatus for dispersing a suspension, in which the grinding media / suspension volume ratio is within 1/2, in the colloidal state by rotating a single agitation rod so that the peripheral velocity of the tip is over 6 m/sec, was comprised of a vessel(1), an agitation shaft(8), and a signal agitation rod(9). The agitation rod(9) was disposed on the position of 5-20% length of the vessel dia. from the bottom, and was 65-95% of the vessel dia. in length, and its dia. was 2-5% of its length.
