PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound having low irritation to the skin, by the esterification of pentaerythritol with acrylic acid, adding acrylic acid in two stages to the reaction system, thereby selectively forming polymerizable high-molecular oligomers. CONSTITUTION:Pentaerythritol is reacted in an organic solvent in the presence of molecular oxyhgen, an acidic solvent and a polymerization inhibitor, adding a part of acrylic acid. Subsequently the residual acrylic acid is added to the reaction system, whereby the formation of polymerizable low-molecular weight monomers having strong irritation to the skin is suppressed and the title composition mainly composed of polymerizable high-molecular weight oligomers having low irritation to the skin is obtained. The tatal amount of acrylic acid per mole of pentaerythritol is pref. 3.2-4.0 moles and its amount used in the first reaction stage is 2.2-3.0 moles. USE:Uesful as a polymerizable material in a wide application range such as solventless coatings, ink and adhesives. |
