The machine has wheels each fitted with radially outwardly extending dibbles regularly distributed around the periphery. A downwardly inclined passage leads plant containing root balls towards the ground on one side of each wheel. A distributor wheel behind each planter wheel has radial distributor tubes regularly spaced around its periphery. A root ball is displaced laterally with the passage of each tube to be deposited in a hole made by a dibble.
