Locking mechanism for ski boot - has electromagnet connected to piezoelectric crystal under manually-operated lever

The locking mechanism for a ski boot consists of an electromagnet (4). This is connected to a piezoelectric crystal (2) fitted under a lever (20) which is moved by the skier. It is also connected to a capacitor or rechargeable battery. A liquid crystal display can be fitted to the front of the ski to indicate the position of the electromagnet and the state of charge of the capacitor. If thid is low it can be raised by som preliminary movements of the skier.
