<p>A protective garment section for a limb consists of a fabric tube on to the outer surface of which a polyurethane cushion is moulded, and in part penetrates through it. The tube or sleeve is of a towelling type fabric with internal loops of a hydrophobic yarn (pref. acrylic). The external surface is at least partly of hydrophilic yarn pref. cotton and nylon, and the polyurethan is also hydrophilic. Provides a better protective cushion for clinical and sports-wear. Blood and moisture are absorbed and expelled whilst heat is dissipated, so that bed sores for example, are prevented. Of partic. benefit in sports clothing is the fact that the protective garments can be washed and sterilised at high temperature in an autoclave.</p> |
