The plant has travelling adjustable power cutters (5, 6) working in conjunction with rotatable circular multi-tube supports (12, 13). The cutters may be mounted on carriages traversing rails (4) formed by the bar (3) of a substructural portal frame. The carriages lock onto the rails in readiness for a cutting operation, and the cutter-mountings permit their translation in the vertical plane. The legs (1, 2) of the portal may provide end-bearings (7, 8) for a rotatable shaft (9) upon which the tube supports (12, 13) are mounted, the supports comprising co-axial discs with peripheral notches each locating a tube parallel to the shaft axis. The discs (12, 13) include electromagnets which hold the tubes in place, and the ends of the shaft may be strengthened by bindings (10, 11).
