摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce fuel consumption remarkably, by feeding, in charging mixed hot and cold slabs to a continuous heating furnace, the hot slabs and cold slabs in the state of thermally equivalent thickness. CONSTITUTION:The size of a slab is, for example, thickness 245 x breadth 970 x length 8200 mm. Slabs of the size are fed successively in the following order: two banks of two-decker hot slabs H, directly after that, two one-decker cold slabs, then one bank of two-decker hot slabs H, followed by one bank of one-decker slab. At that time, productivity of the heating furnce is 130T/H, time required for passing the furnace is 200 min., and the temp. of the furnace is set at 1,250 deg.C. The thermally equivalent thickness is 2.0. The thermally equivalent thickness is defined at the ratio of hot slab thickness to cold slab thickness of equal extraction temp. at a prescribed time required for passing the furnace. The extraction temp. of both the hot and the cold slabs after the prescribed heating time of 200 min. is equally 1,200 deg.C, causing no overheating of the hot slabs, and no underheating of the cold slabs.
