Substituted 4-biphenyl acetylenes [I ; R = Ph, II(R2 - Cl, F, Me), C5-7 cycloalkyl ; R1 = Ph, Cl, F, Me, MeO , useful as anti-inflammotory agent, analgesics, antipyretics, and antitrombotic agent, were prepd by halogenation of R R1 C6H3COMe with excess mixt. of POCl3 and PCl5 to give RR1C6H3C Cl: Ch2 at 40-200≦̸C, followed by dehydrohalogenation at -30-0≦̸C to give I by NaNH2, LiNH2, or KNH2 in liq. NH3.
