PURPOSE:To improve a color balance contrast by reducing area of electrode intersection parts equivalent to blue, red and green filters in the order, by fixing the width of an effective voltage, applied to a corresponding liquid crystal to the maximum value integrally, and by easily obtaining a voltage for obtaining a half tone. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic thin-film color filters 11 are provided between liquid crystals 9 and clear electrodes 8 of the 90 deg.-twist structure and form red, blue and green filters in the row direction by turns. When this liquid-crystal display panel is viewed by a trnsmissive pattern, white incident light is cut by deflecting plate 10 at the opposite side with a voltage supplied to the liquid crystal at matrix electrode cross part, less than the threshold level of the liquid crystal, so that the entirety will be dark. Then, various colors can be obtained from transmitting light by independently controlling the gradient of liquid-crystal molecules at filter parts of three cross parts among respective picture elements. Now, reducing in area filters in the order green, red and blue corresponding to the brightness makes it possible to fix effective voltage values applied to liquid crystals equivalent to respective filters to the maximum values integrally, so that half-tone voltage division will become easy with an excellent balance contrast. |
