PURPOSE:To increase the effect of repair, by excluding water from sprayed refracotory material in hot spray repair of refractory lining material for a converter. CONSTITUTION:Powdered refractory material for spray made by mixing magnesia clinker etc. with nonaqueous bonding material is sprayed to form a converter lining by means of a dry nozzle 1. At that time, cooling water 5 is introduced through a cooling water intake 3 and is sprayed through small holes 7 made at the top end of the nozzle 1 in order to prevent the oxidation of the hot-spraying material, excessive cooling water being discharged through an exhaust opening 4. In is most pref. that the oxidation is prevented completely by cooling with water, and the water is vaporized just before the cooling water arrives at the surface of the refractory lining. Therefore, it is effective to use 5-7 wt.% cooling water on the basis of hot spray material at furnace temp. of 1,200 deg.C, and at a spray speed 50 kg/min. Use of inert gas, e.g., N2, Ar as the oxidation-preventing medium is also effective. |
