The appts. uses an electronic circuit contg. an oscillator which supplies an electronic interruptor or vibrator feeding the prim. winding of a welding transformer. The oscillator pref. has a natural frequency above the normal mains frequency and esp. ca. 1 kHz, viz. above the audible range. The welding transformer pref. has a ferrite core, and is e.g. a pot core with a single turn sec. winding consisting of a copper strip wound round the pot. The transformer can have a low weight and some dimensions as compared with transformers used in similar conventional appts.; excessive noise exerting a harmful effect on workers is eliminated.
