Torque yarn for manufg. carpet having good feel and cushioning was obtained by self twisting the 5-10S single wool yarn or blended woolen yarn to 100-150TPM, and followed by double-twisting the products to 250-600TPM in opposite directions. The double twist yarn let off from reel was torque corrected, dipped in setting soln. dried, and steamed under high pressure to give torque yarn for carpet.
