Data transmission system with automatic correction - detects loss of word synchronisation with few sync. bits and re-establishes synchronisation using clock at receiver

The data transmission system detects the loss of word synchronisation whilst at the same time avoiding the need for a relatively large number of additional sync. bits. Once the loss has been detected, synchronisation is automatically, re-established. For instance, a word with 31 bits needs only the first bit and last bit to preserve synchronisation. The remaining bits can be data and check bits. The receive has a clock independent of the transmitter and driving a counter. The counter's contents are delivered when a set of consecutive signals meets a given condition, i.e. when an error has occurred. The counter is reset.
